The NFL heard an appeal from Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Harrison of his one-game suspension at 2 p.m. ET on Wednesday, NFL Network's Albert Breer reports, according to a league source.
Harrison's suspension was effective immediately after it was issued on Tuesday. Harrison then requested an expedited hearing for his appeal, his agent, Bill Parise, told NFL Network insider Jason La Canfora.
The appeal was heard by Ted Cottrell, who along with Art Shell is an on-field appeals officer jointly appointed by the NFL and the NFL Players Association to hear such cases.
Barring a reversal of his suspension, Harrison is not allowed to practice with the Steelers this week or be at the team practice facility or stadium and will be reinstated on Dec. 20.
Harrison was suspended as a result of a roughing the passer penalty for a helmet-to-facemask hit on Browns quarterback Colt McCoy during the Steelers' 14-3 win over Cleveland this past Thursday night.
