Spencer Larsen, Kyle Hix released by New England Patriots

The New England Patriots on Monday released offensive lineman Kyle Hix and fullback Spencer Larsen.

Larsen was sidelined the entire 2012 season with a knee injury after joining the team as an unrestricted free agent from Denver. Larsen played four seasons for the Broncos, splitting duties between linebacker and fullback before eventually playing full-time on offense. As a rookie in 2008, he became just the fourth player since 1990 to start on both offense and defense in the same game.

Hix spent the last two seasons on injured reserve after joining the Patriots as a rookie free agent out of Texas in 2011.
