Seahawks claim RB Williams from Browns, cut TE Byrd

RENTON, Wash. -- The Seattle Seahawks signed running back/fullback Eddie Williams off the Cleveland Browns' practice squad and released tight end Dominique Byrd to clear a roster spot.

The Seahawks made the roster moves Tuesday. Additionally, they released guard Brent Osborne from the practice squad and signed tight end Fendi Onobun to the practice squad.

Williams' signing came after fullback Michael Robinson suffered a second-degree sprained ankle during Sunday's season opener in San Francisco. Seahawks coach Pete Carroll hasn't placed a timetable on when Robinson might return.

Williams spent the entire 2010 season on the Chicago Bears' practice squad before being released at the end of training camp this year. He signed with the Browns on Sept. 7.
