Saints shuffle assistant coaching duties, hire familiar tutor

NEW ORLEANS -- The New Orleans Saints have moved two assistant coaches to new positions and hired a new assistant.

The team has promoted Tony Oden to secondary coach from assistant secondary coach, while moving Mike Mallory from assistant special teams coach to assistant secondary coach.

The Saints also announced on Monday that John Bonamego has been hired as an assistant special teams coach.

Bonamego is in his second stint with the Saints. He was the Saints' special teams coordinator in 2006 and 2007 before spending two-plus season in the same job in Miami.

Oden has spent five seasons with the Saints and replaces Dennis Allen, who recently became defensive coordinator in Denver. Mallory is entering his fourth year on the Saints' staff.
