Rookie WR Nelson will need 'miracle' to play in finale

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- Rookie David Nelson is expected to miss the Buffalo Bills' season finale at the New York Jets because of a rib injury, leaving the team down yet another receiver.

Chan Gailey on Monday essentially ruled out Nelson, saying it would take "a miracle" for the receiver to play Sunday.

Nelson was hurt in the second quarter of a 34-3 loss to New England a day earlier. He was stretched out attempting to make a catch over the middle when he was sandwiched by hits from linebacker Jerod Mayo and safety Jarrad Page.

The Bills (4-11) will have to add another receiver to a group that's already down veteran starters Lee Evans and Roscoe Parrish.

Nelson is fourth on the team with 31 catches and 353 yards and has scored three touchdowns.
