Rookie WR Britt receives first start for Titans with Gage out

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Titans rookie wide receiver Kenny Britt will make his first NFL start Sunday against the Buffalo Bills, replacing Justin Gage, who was deactivated.

Gage has several broken transverse process bones in his lower back, which he sustained while making a leaping catch during last week's win at San Francisco. Britt was the Titans' first-round draft pick in April.

The Bills deactivated three defensive starters: linebacker Keith Ellison (thigh), cornerback Terrence McGee (knee) and offensive tackle Kyle Williams (knee). Bryan Scott is starting in Ellison's linebacker spot, and George Wilson is taking over strong safety for Scott.

Rookie Jairus Byrd, who is tied for the NFL lead with seven interceptions, will start at free safety with Donte Whitner (ankle) ailing.
