Robert Griffin III inactive for Redskins-Cowboys tilt

Jay Gruden played coy all week with Robert Griffin III's availability for Monday night's tussle with the Dallas Cowboys.

RGIII was listed as questionable after Gruden continually said he would start if the quarterback's ankle was deemed healthy enough.

It isn't looking healthy enough.

NFL Media's Albert Breer reported Monday morning that Griffin won't play against the Cowboys, according to a Redskins source. Colt McCoy will start as expected.

RGIII has been out since Week 2 with a dislocated ankle. He'll miss his sixth consecutive game. With a bye in Week 10 the Redskins could hold out the quarterback an additional week and have him return in Week 11 for the stretch run.

We'll be here all week after Monday night's game to follow another stirring case of "Will Robert Griffin III return?"

UPDATE: Griffin is officially inactive.
