Restricted free agents Johnson, Ndukwe sign Chiefs tenders

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Linebacker Derrick Johnson has signed a restricted free-agent tender and will remain with the Kansas City Chiefs, the team announced Thursday.

Johnson was the Chiefs' first-round draft pick out of Texas in 2005. But early last season, for reasons he said were never fully explained by the coaching staff, Johnson was moved to part-time duty.

Johnson had a key sack of Ben Roethlisberger during a victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers, and he returned two interceptions for touchdowns during a season-ending victory over the Denver Broncos.

The Chiefs also said offensive lineman Ikechuku Ndukwe had signed a restricted free-agent tender.
