Report: Seahawks LB Hill's assault trial scheduled for Thursday

Leroy Hill's trial on a misdemeanor assault/domestic violence charge is scheduled to begin in Issaquah, Wash., on Thursday, the day before his Seahawks teammates report to training camp, the *Seattle Times* reported.

It wasn't immediately known if the trial would affect the linebacker's ability to practice with the team. The Seahawks ordered Hill to stay away from two minicamps earlier this offseason so he could deal with his legal issues.

Hill was arrested by Issaquah police in April after officers responded to a complaint of a domestic dispute at his residence. Officers determined there had been a dispute between Hill and his girlfriend.

Police said Hill's girlfriend had obvious marks and injuries indicating an assault had occurred, and she alleged Hill had caused these injuries. Hill was taken into custody without incident.

Prosecutor Lynn Moberly requested a material-witness warrant for Hill's girlfriend, according to the Times.

This isn't Hill's first run-in with the law. He was arrested in January 2009 in Georgia for misdemeanor marijuana possession and later received 12 months' probation in a plea agreement.

The NFL suspended Hill for the 2010 season opener for violating its substance-abuse policy. He also must forfeit two paychecks.

Hill signed a six-year, $36 million contract extension with the Seahawks before the start of the 2009 season.
