Report: NFL noting players who might have helmet-fitting issues

USA Football has been a proponent of proper helmet fitting, making it a part of the Heads Up Football program since it started in 2012.

CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reported that the NFL has been putting an emphasis on proper helmet fitting among its players since 2012 as well.

The report said it's not unusual for the league to call team equipment managers, asking about the fit of helmets for specific players. The league has kept track of players who lose their helmets and the frequency at which it happens.

He said two recent events have brought the NFL's push for helmet fitting into the forefront.
