Report: Jacobs, Ryan won't have to answer for postgame spat

The NFL will not look into the altercation between Giants running back Brandon Jacobs and Jets coach Rex Ryan after Saturday's 29-14 Giants victory in the battle of crosstown rivals, The New York Daily News reported Sunday, citing a source .

Jacobs and Ryan exchanged heated words on the field after the final whistle, with Jacobs reportedly telling Ryan, "Time to shut up, fat boy!" among other choice bon mots.

Ryan angered the Giants with his trash talk during the week leading up to the game, claiming the Jets have been the better team over the past two years and he didn't want to be the Giants' "little brother." The Jets took things up another notch by placing black curtains in front of the Giants' four Super Bowl logos in front of their MetLife Stadium locker room.

"He told me, 'Shut the f--- up, wait until we win the Super Bowl,' " Jacobs said about Saturday's conversation, according to the Daily News. "I told him I would punch him in the face. I told him that out of all these Giants on this football team, you're talking to the wrong one."

"We had a private conversation," Ryan said. "That's all I'll leave it as. He doesn't like me. I respect him, but I couldn't care less about him."

Ryan was fined $75,000 by the NFL for a confrontation with a fan at halftime of the Jets' 37-16 loss to the New England Patriots in Week 10.
