Report: Ex-Steelers WR Limas Sweed works out for Bengals

Free-agent receiver Limas Sweed worked out for the Cincinnati Bengals on Friday, a league source told the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Reuter: Second-best RB prospect?

Trent Richardson is this draft's top-rated back, but who's next? Chad Reuter scouts three second-tier RB prospects. **More ...**

Sweed hasn't played since 2009. A second-round pick by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2008 NFL Draft, Sweed tore his left Achilles' tendon in training camp before the 2010 season and was placed on the injured reserve list. According to the Enquirer, the Steelers eventually waived Sweed in 2011 because of a shoulder issue.

Despite his relatively high draft status, Sweed's pro career never really got off the ground. He played in 11 games as a rookie in 2008, catching six passes for 64 yards, and only caught one five-yard pass in nine games the following season.

The University of Texas product racked up 1,915 receiving yards and 20 touchdowns in college.
