The Philadelphia Eagles don't plan to fire coach Andy Reid at this time, despite their 4-8 record, and they know it would be very difficult to replace him with someone better, league sources said Sunday.
However, Reid controls his staff, and the only way things will become dicey in Philadelphia is if there's a clash over taking the defensive coordinator title away from Juan Castillo. If there is a clash over staff, it could lead to Reid either wanting out and/or him being fired.
Reid promoted Castillo from offensive line coach to defensive coordinator before the season, a decision that has been met with harsh criticism as the Eagles' defense has faltered.
Reid is in his 13th season as coach of the Eagles, owning a 122-80-1 record. The team's faint playoff hopes essentially were quashed Thursday by a 31-14 loss to the Seattle Seahawks.
