Redskins add Pakulak to roster to sub for injured punter Smith

ASHBURN, Va. -- The Washington Redskins will have a new punter Sunday.

Coach Jim Zorn said Friday that Glenn Pakulak will be added to the active roster and take over Hunter Smith's duties as punter and holder for the game at Carolina.

Smith pulled his groin during last week's victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and hasn't been able to practice this week.

The Redskins signed Pakulak to the practice squad Tuesday. He punted in eight games with the New Orleans Saints last season.

The Redskins will have to cut a player to make room for Pakulak. Zorn said the move will be made Saturday.

Also, defensive tackle Cornelius Griffin was listed as questionable with an elbow injury. Tackle Chris Samuels, who sat out Thursday's practice with a knee problem, returned Friday and is probable.
