Raiders' Jakobi Meyers requests trade after contract talks stall; Las Vegas has no plans to deal WR

The Raiders' top receiver wants out of Las Vegas.

Jakobi Meyers recently met with Raiders leadership and requested to be traded after the two sides were unable to negotiate a new contract, NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero reported.

Las Vegas, however, has no plans to accommodate Meyers' ask, citing his value to their offense, Rapoport and Pelissero added.

Meyers is coming off a career-best season in 2024 in which he logged 87 catches for 1,027 yards and four touchdowns while running routes for three different quarterbacks. Meyers is also clearly their best option at the position, especially after second-round pick Jack Bech failed to crack the top three at receiver in the preseason, leaving room for fourth-round pick Dont'e Thornton to claim a spot.

The Raiders moved to further solidify their receiver-room on Monday, signing veteran Amari Cooper to a one-year deal.

If Meyers is going to capitalize on his value, now is the time.

Meyers is due $10.76 million -- a rate that ranks him among the likes of Darius Slayton, Josh Palmer and Tutu Atwell, among others -- in the final year of his contract this season. An extension that includes a raise would likely solve the matter, and given his role within a Raiders offense that now includes veteran quarterback Geno Smith, he's deserving of a pay increase.

With no extension coming, however, Meyers has decided he'd like to play for a team interested in investing in him. We'll see if the Raiders grant any of his wishes.
