The 49ers, trailing 17-0, failed on fourth-and-1 from the Seahawks 2-yard line with 9:50 left in the third quarter, squelching their best scoring chance of the evening. The 49ers had the ball on the Seahawks 23 and faced a fourth-and-3 on their next possession, but again failed to convert. The 49ers never again put together a credible scoring threat.

Seahawks receiver D.J. Hackett got a chance to shine in the absence of Deion Branch, recording eight receptions for 101 yards and scoring on a 10-yard reception in the fourth quarter. Safety Jordan Babineaux sacked 49ers quarterback Alex Smith late in the first half with San Francisco on the Seattle 31. The Seahawks' Darryl Tapp recovered the fumble to snuff out the 49ers' scoring drive.

The 49ers were 1-for-12 on third down conversions and did not convert their first third down until there was 7:46 left in the fourth quarter; the 49ers were 0-for-9 up to that point.

The 49ers were shut out for the first time this season and have scored a total of three points in two games against the Seahawks this year. ...
