Quick Take: Saints (4-5) at Chiefs (1-8)

Last meeting
The host Saints defeated the Chiefs, 27-20, in 2004 -- the club's first meeting in the more than 10 years.

Streaks
The all-time series is tied, 4-4.

Last week
Drew Brees passed for 422 yards and two touchdowns but threw three interceptions as the host Falcons prevailed, 34-20. ... The Chiefs went for a two-point try following Tyler Thigpen's 2-yard touchdown pass to Tony Gonzalez, but Thigpen's pass was batted away to preserve a 20-19 Chargers win.

Keep your eye on ...
Saints' road defense: New Orleans is 1-4 on the road this season (the victory coming in a "home" game in London) and have allowed an average of 31 points and 394 yards in the five games. That could be good news for Chiefs QB Tyler Thigpen, who passed for 266 yards and three touchdowns against the equally porous Chargers defense.

Brees' assault: Brees is ahead of Dan Marino's record-setting pace of 1984 when Marino passed for 5,084 yards (2,985 for Brees, 2,672 for Marino through nine games). An interesting note: Brees threw for 422 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions in Week 10; Marino passed for 422 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions in Week 10 of 1984.

Who's running for KC: The Chiefs have lost Kolby Smith for the season, and Jamaal Charles has been hampered by an ankle injury. Larry Johnson has missed the last three games, but did return to practice this week and should see action in Week 11.

Did you know?
The Saints haven't played in New Orleans since Oct. 12. ... Brees has three wins as a starter against the Chiefs and has topped 300 passing yards each time. ... Tony Gonzalez is tied with Kellen Winslow for the most 100-yard receiving games in NFL history by a tight end (24).
