Quick Take: Rookie Stewart showcases skills

What we learned ...

The rebuilt Panthers' offensive line is on a roll: Carolina made several changes to its offensive line in the offseason and the unit was dominant against the Redskins' run defense. DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart each rushed for over 100 yards and a touchdown in slightly more than a half of play.

Julius Peppers is on a mission: The former Pro Bowl defensive end has been outstanding this preseason. After an off year in 2007, Peppers appears determined to come back in a big way this year as he finished with 3 tackles, a sack, 2 fumble recoveries and a forced fumble against the Redskins.

The Redskins' starting offensive unit has a long way to go: After starting out the preseason with two solid outings, the offense has regressed in its past two games. Against Carolina, the Redskins had as many turnovers as first downs in the first half (two) and finished the half with only 3 net passing yards.

Jason Taylor received a scare: The Pro Bowl defensive end had his leg bent awkwardly in a scrum and immediately dropped to the ground screaming in pain. The team is calling the injury a sprain for now and the hope is that Taylor avoided a major injury. His streak of 130 consecutive starts could be in danger if he is unable to recover by the Sept. 4 season opener.
