Marques Tuiasosopo is locked in a battle with Brad Smith to be the third quarterback behind Chad Pennington and Kellen Clemens. If the competition came down to Thursday, Tuiasosopo might have taken a slight lead. Tuiasosopo completed 9-of-16 passes for 78 yards and put the Jets in a position to win. Tuiasosopo also scored on an 11-yard touchdown run. Smith was 2-for-8 for 24 yards in his limited time. Eagles coach Andy Reid, who spared those watching the horror of overtime by going for two points, also deserves a game ball.
Key stat
The Jets and Eagles both engaged in a rather sloppy first half, combining for four fumbles, three by the Eagles. The two teams combined for a total of seven lost fumbles. Quarterback A.J. Feeley had two fumbles, before leaving the game early with a broken bone to his left hand. Feeley will have to see a hand specialist to determine if he will miss any games.
Noteworthy
Punter and former Australian Rules Football player Sav Rocca is in a battle with Dirk Johnson for a roster spot. He certainly didn't help his chances when he muffed a bad snap on a field-goal attempt in the team's opening drive. David Akers missed another kick in the second quarter but was successful in his third try. Rocca has done a good job punting the football, but how much is his holding inexperience going to cost him?
