Quick Take: Falcons roll at home past Chiefs

It was over when ...
RB Michael Turner scored his third rushing touchdown of the game late in the third quarter to put the Falcons up 31-14. Atlanta added a defensive touchdown in the final two minutes to improve to 2-0 at home.

Game balls
While Turner took care of the offense, it is veteran defensive end John Abraham who gets the honor after his third straight impact outing. He applied constant pressure to Chiefs QB Tyler Thigpen, who was making his first career start, and finished with two sacks and a forced fumble. His pass rush helped force Thigpen into a forgettable 14-of-34 day with three interceptions.

Key stat
With a rookie quarterback under center for the Chiefs and their defense playing well, the Falcons wisely went heavy with the run in their play-calling. They called twice as many rushes (36) as passes (18) and averaged 5.2 yards per carry.

Noteworthy
Thigpen started the game just 1-of-10 passing for minus-1 yard and also had an interception. He did not complete his first pass for positive yardage until there was less than 9 minutes remaining in the second quarter and followed that completion with his second interception. ... Chiefs RB Larry Johnson had his first 100-yard rushing game since Week 12 of last season. ... Ryan threw his second touchdown measuring more than 60 yards in as many home games, connecting with Roddy White on a 70-yarder in the second quarter. ... Falcons CB Chris Houston scored his first career touchdown late in the fourth quarter.
