DETROIT (AP) -Detroit Lions defensive tackle Shaun Rogers won't face criminal charges following a review of an exotic dancer's claims that he inappropriately touched her.
A 20-year-old woman who dances at a club on Detroit's west side made the complaint last month against the 6-foot-4, 345-pound Lions standout, claiming he entered her dressing room where she was changing. Police had asked prosecutors to approve a criminal sexual conduct warrant, but the Wayne County prosecutor's office declined.
"After an extensive investigation we have determined there is insufficient evidence to file any charges," Prosecutor Kym L. Worthy said in a statement.
An E-mail seeking comment was sent to Rogers Friday. E-mail and telephone messages were left with Kennard McGuire, his agent, and a message was also left with Lions spokesman Bill Keenist.
Detroit drafted Rogers out of Texas as the 61st overall pick in the second round of the 2001 NFL draft. He signed a six-year contract following the 2004 season.
Rogers was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2004 and 2005, when he recorded a career-high 5 1/2 sacks.
His 2006 season was cut short after the league suspended him for four games for taking a banned substance to control his weight. He also had knee surgery while he was away from the team and didn't play after becoming eligible because coach Rod Marinelli ruled he wasn't healthy.
He finishing the season with 36 tackles, three sacks and a fumble recovery over six games.
In his career, Rogers has also blocked nine kicks, including eight field goals and one extra point attempt.
