Porter: All-talk Jets must deal with no-joke Dolphins on Sunday

The Miami Dolphins and New York Jets engaged in a war of words in the offseason. Outspoken Dolphins linebacker Joey Porter is ratcheting up the trash talk again entering the teams' crucial Week 8 showdown.

Just three weeks ago, the Dolphins edged the Jets at home in a thrilling, 31-27 back-and-forth encounter, but that didn't stop several Jets from taking a few shots at the Dolphins this week. Linebacker Bart Scott, safety Kerry Rhodes and coach Rex Ryan were among the Jets who made comments to the Newark Star Ledger earlier this week, and Porter took exception to them during his weekly NFL Network interview.

"They've been taking shots all week," Porter said. "Coach (Ryan) made a couple of comments. They (are) talking over there as if they beat us last time. But we're ready for this game on Sunday."

Porter went on to call out Ryan for what he perceived as a disrespectful remark about Dolphins cornerback Will Allen being out for the season with a left knee injury.

Asked by the Miami media whether he felt bad about the Dolphins losing their best veteran defensive back, Ryan replied: "I don't care about that. We lost a Pro Bowl nose tackle (Kris Jenkins) and a Pro Bowl running back (Leon Washington). So boo hoo hoo."

Replied Porter: "When he talks shots and makes fun of a guy being out for the season, as a player you take that personal. That's like talking about my family member. He made a little comment about Will Allen being hurt, saying 'Boo hoo hoo,' as if it's a joke or something."

"We'll see if it's a joke on Sunday. There's nothing the coach can do about it. When he's got to see his players out there to play us on Sunday, that's something they'll have to deal with."

Porter went on to make light of the Mark Sanchezhot dog incident that has blown up in the national media, saying, "I'm not really worried about him eating hot dogs on the sideline. I'm trying to worry about how I can get him on the sideline. Maybe with an ice pack or something."

Porter ended his segment with one last warning: "I'd like to get this off my chest with the Jets. Obviously they have problems with us over here. We have problems with them. And I can't wait until we play on Sunday.

"Bart Scott over there running his mouth. Kerry Rhodes running his mouth. The head coach running his mouth. But on Sunday, they're going to have to deal with us."
