Police recover former Bills QB Kelly's Hall of Fame ring

EAST AURORA, N.Y. -- Police say they've recovered former Buffalo Bills quarterback Jim Kelly's Hall of Fame ring and some other items that were stolen in 2009.

Two men face charges.

The football player says the 2002 HOF ring, along with a University of Miami "Ring of Honor," were in a briefcase that was stolen from his vehicle while it was parked at his home in the Buffalo suburb of East Aurora.

Police Friday say 36-year-old Kevin Sapp and 34-year-old Eric Schmidt are charged with grand larceny and possession of stolen property.

Sapp's also charged with trespassing. He's currently in a central New York prison on unrelated burglary charges. Schmidt was arraigned in Aurora Town Court and is due back Feb. 16. A telephone message left at his West Seneca home wasn't returned.
