Panthers WR Smith out with shin injury against Packers

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Panthers wide receiver Steve Smith was inactive with an injured shin for Carolina's game Sunday against the Green Bay Packers.

Smith did not practice this week and was a game-time decision. He has 45 receptions for 590 yards and six touchdowns, all team-highs despite just two TD catches in the last seven weeks.

Without Smith's touchdowns, the Panthers have just six TDs receiving this season including three from Smith's replacement, Drew Carter. The next leading receiver is tight end Jeff King with 32 catches.

Carolina has struggled to get Smith going without quarterback Jake Delhomme, who is out for the season with a right elbow injury. The Panthers have two offensive touchdowns in the last three games.
