Panthers' Newton wins second straight Rookie of the Week

Voters on NFL.com have made their choice. Quarterback Cam Newton of the Carolina Panthers is the Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Week for games played on Dec. 22-26, the NFL announced Friday.

After the regular season, five players will be nominated for Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Year honors. Fans can vote for the winner on NFL.com/rookies throughout the month of January. The winner will be announced at a press conference at Super Bowl XLVI in Indianapolis.

PEPSI ROOKIE OF THE WEEK NOMINEES

Andy Dalton, Cincinnati Bengals

Dalton completed 18 of 31 passes for 154 yards and two touchdowns in the Bengals' 23-16 win over the Arizona Cardinals. He also added five carries for 48 yards on the ground.

Denarius Moore, Oakland Raiders

Moore caught four passes for 94 yards and a score in the Raiders' 16-13 victory over Kansas City Chiefs.

Cam Newton, Carolina Panthers

Newton completed 70.6 percent of his passes for 171 yards and three touchdowns in the Panthers' 48-16 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He also carried six times for 65 yards and a touchdown on the ground.

Mistral Raymond, Minnesota Vikings

Raymond tallied six tackles, two passes defensed and one interception returned for 31 yards in the fourth quarter in the Vikings' 33-26 win over the Washington Redskins.

Evan Royster, Washington Redskins

Royster carried 19 times for 132 yards in the Redskins' 33-26 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. He also caught two passes for 15 yards.
