Packers' Josh Jacobs feels he 'left a lot on the table' in rebound season; RB eyes 'No. 1 spot,' Super Bowl in 2025

Josh Jacobs got back on track in Green Bay but believes he could have had a much better 2024 season.

The Pro Bowl running back generated 1,329 yards and 15 touchdowns, averaging 4.4 yards per carry in his first season with the Packers.

"I feel like I had a good year, but I feel like I still left a lot on the table," Jacobs said Thursday, via the team's website. "For me, it's just trying to come in and chase that No. 1 spot and raise a Super Bowl (trophy) at the end of the day. That's the only thing that's really on my mind."

Jacobs struggled with his health in 2023, earning 805 yards in 13 games and averaging a career-low 3.5 YPC in his final season with the Raiders. His move to Green Bay got him back in line with his league-leading 2022 campaign.

Jacobs getting back on track coincided with a revitalization of the running back position. He was part of a free-agent crew that included Saquon Barkley and Derrick Henry, all changing teams and shining.

"I feel like everything in football, and really in life, it comes full circle," Jacobs said. "Besides the quarterback, we touch the ball more than anybody else on the field, so we have the most opportunities to create and be special, so I'm proud of a lot of these guys who stepped up and showed their versatility and played good."

As the Packers' workhorse, Jacobs is in line for another big-time load in 2025. One thing that could help the 27-year-old have an even better season in Year 2 in Green Bay is an improved blocking situation. The Packers signed guard Aaron Banks in free agency, shifted Elgton Jenkins to center, and used a second-round pick on tackle Anthony Belton.

"I always tell them, 'Shoot, just get on somebody, I'll make you right.' Literally," said Jacobs of Green Bay's offensive line. "I feel like it's a partnership at the end of the day. I can't do my job without them and when they do their job, I make them look good. So that's all part of it."
