Oregon LB Matthews awaits recommendation on hurt shoulder

Oregon linebacker Casey Matthews received a second opinion Wednesday about the left shoulder that he injured during last weekend's NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis and is awaiting word on the prescribed course of action.

Matthews injured the shoulder during the bench press Sunday, and he wasn't able to participate in field drills Monday. Matthews said that while attempting his 14th rep, his shoulder subluxed and he couldn't finish.

Matthews, the younger brother of Green Bay Packers linebacker Clay Matthews, said then that he didn't believe he needed surgery.

Matthews hopes to participate in Oregon's pro day March 10, but he's uncertain that will happen.
