Niners WR Bruce in for first play vs. Rams, his former team

ST. LOUIS -- Wide receiver Isaac Bruce made a ceremonial start in the San Francisco 49ers' season finale, lining up for the first snap Sunday against the St. Louis Rams before jumping and bumping with teammates and trotting off the field.

Touchdowns: 91

Bruce, 37, was active for the first time in six weeks, giving him a chance to possibly conclude his NFL career in the city where he was a four-time Pro Bowl pick. Bruce said during the week there was a "75 percent" probability that he would retire after the season. He caught the winning touchdown pass in the Rams' lone Super Bowl championship after the 1999 season.

Bruce untucked his jersey and removed tape shortly after the play Sunday, then stood on the sideline and watched.

Before the game, fans chanted Bruce's last name in elongated fashion, as they did when he was with the Rams.
