Niners re-sign veteran linebacker Green

SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- The San Francisco 49ers re-signed linebacker Roderick Green on Tuesday, shortly before the veteran pass-rusher would have become an unrestricted free agent.

Green has spent parts of the last two seasons with the 49ers. He had 4 1/2 sacks for San Francisco in 2006, but was cut in last year's training camp before re-signing in early November for the last seven games of the Niners' fifth consecutive losing season.

Green, who had two sacks last year, spent his first two NFL season with the Baltimore Ravens.
