NFL Research takes a deeper look at just how rare the Seahawks' goal-line stand against the Patriots was on Sunday night.

How good is New England from the 1-yard line?

-Prior to the final three plays from Sunday night's game, the Patriots had converted 6-of-10 plays from the opponent's 1-yard line for a TD this season.

-LeGarrette Blount had scored a TD on six of his nine carries from the opponent's 1-yard line heading into the final drive on Sunday night.

-Earlier in the game against the Seahawks, the Patriots were 2-of-2 on scoring TDs from the 1-yard line (two Blount rush TDs).

-Prior to Sunday night, Rob Gronkowski had six receiving TDs on 11 targets from the 1-yard line in his career.

How good is the rest of the NFL from the 1-yard line?

-The rest of the NFL has scored TDs on 58.5 percent of plays run from the 1-yard line this year (114 TDs scored on 195 plays).

-Teams are only slightly more successful when running the ball from the 1-yard than they are passing from the 1-yard line (55.8 percent of pass plays have gone for TD, 59.4 percent of run plays have gone for TD)

How good are the Seahawks at goal-line defense?

-This season, the Seahawks defense has allowed a TD on just 4 of 13 plays run from their own 1-yard line (30.8 percent).

-Seattle's 69.2 percent success rate on stopping teams from the 1-yard line is the best in the NFL this season.
