NFL fantasy football: C.J. Spiller heads up Rank's 11 for Week 2

Let me guess, the majority of you checking in for a fantasy sleepers column likely have some combination of Fred Jackson, Steven Jackson, Wes Welker, DeAngelo Williams, Larry Fitzgerald or Greg Jennings.

Yeah, I know how you feel.

There were some disappointing performances on Sunday afternoon (or even back to Wednesday when Victory Cruz was playing volleyball with passes thrown in his direction). With that in mind, here's a look at the top sleepers for Week 2.

C.J. Spiller, RB, Buffalo Bills: If you drafted Fred Jackson, I hope you had the presence of mind to back him up with Spiller. Because if you didn't, you aren't going to find him on your waiver wire. And if you are holding Spiller and didn't have Jackson, please be sure to taunt his owner.

Matt Cassel, QB, Kansas City Chiefs: The Chiefs' signal-caller had a pretty good fantasy day, thanks in no small part to a rushing touchdown. The Kansas City Chiefs have the Buffalo Bills this week. You know, the team Mark Sanchez torched last week. Heck, if Matt Leinart gets a shot at the Bills, start him too. But Cassel is a good option. Seriously, I like him more than Cam Newton right now (not really, but I'm kind of steamed at Cam).

Stevan Ridley, RB, New England Patriots: The New England Patriots showed a lot of faith in Ridley, as he had 21 attempts for 125 yards and a touchdown. If Ridley can maintain this consistency (Marshawn Lynch had success against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 1), he could cement his position as starter for the Patriots. And this will likely be the last time he makes this list because he's on the cusp of being a solid RB2 for the rest of the season.

Sidney Rice, WR, Seattle Seahawks:Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson looked poised, even though his team went down in defeat. Rice made an outstanding play on his touchdown grab against the Cardinals. Rice will have a tough challenge against the Dallas Cowboys this week, who stifled the New York Giants' big guns in the opener. But the Cowboys could be set up for a letdown and the Seahawks are going to be desperate for a win.

Randall Cobb, WR, Green Bay Packers: The secret might be out on "Tex" Cobb who had nine receptions for 77 yards for the Green Bay Packers and even made a few cameo appearances in the backfield for the team. He's not ready to be your No. 1 fantasy receiver, but if you're stung by injuries or, you know, stuck with bad players, Cobb is somebody to consider. The Packers are desperate for a win, and you know this team is going to come out firing. And if Greg Jennings can't go Thursday, Cobb becomes even more valuable.

Danny Amendola, WR, St. Louis Rams: Amendola was a favorite of Sam Bradford when the duo made beautiful music (like Hall and Oates) together back in 2010. Amendola had nine targets and he's a huge sleeper, especially in PPR leagues. The St. Louis Rams will play host to the Washington Redskins, who allowed a lot of garbage-time points to the New Orleans Saints in Week 1.

Dexter McCluster, WR, Kansas City Chiefs: The Chiefs do-everything back had 10 targets against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 1. That's four more than Dwayne Bowe. McCluster is an inconsistent performer, but the Bills' defense looked awful against the Jets. So if you're in a pinch or a really deep league, take a look at McCluster as a sleeper for this week. Just don't expect him to be a week-in, week-out consistent performer.

Here's why you shouldn't pay too much attention to preseason. Fleener looked miserable at times, leaving some to wonder if the connection between Fleener and Andrew Luck was overblown. And then the real games started and Fleener was targeted 10 times in a loss to the Chicago Bears. So when the speed of the game increases, Luck looked for his guy. Expect this to continue.

Jacob Tamme, TE, Denver Broncos: Here's another guy who looked morose in preseason action, but there he was in the mix for the Denver Broncos on Sunday night. Noted tight end vulture Joel Dreessen had just two targets and none in the red zone, but it's coming, so be wary.

Raiders defense: Here are the defenses you want to target -- anybody playing the Miami Dolphins (like the Oakland Raiders this week), the Cleveland Browns (the Cincinnati Bengals) or even the Bills (the Chiefs). You can't add the Bengals, but of the two defenses already mentioned, lean towards the Raiders because of the injuries to the Chiefs.

Kenny Britt, WR, Tennessee Titans: Britt will return to the Tennessee Titans this week. And he might not be ready to explode just yet. But he's still somebody who can be a long-term sleeper for you.
