Newton, Mallett mostly impressive in interviews with teams

INDIANAPOLIS -- Heisman Trophy winner Cam Newton and fellow quarterback Ryan Mallett have been busy interviewing with prospective employers during the NFL Scouting Combine, league sources said Sunday.

Newton, from Auburn, and Mallett, from Arkansas, are facing much scrutiny at the combine. They are considered among the most intriguing prospects, have met with numerous teams and impressed some of the executives with whom they have spoke. Some teams have come away believing Mallett has maturity issues, but he has generally made a favorable impression, according to sources.

Mallett met with the Titans, Jaguars, Dolphins, Redskins, Bengals, Bills, Cardinals, Panthers, 49ers, Seahawks and Green Bay Packers, among others, sources said.
