New youth sports concussion guidelines released

The fifth annual Youth Sports Safety Summit opened March 10, featuring a new set of guidelines released by the National Athletic Trainers' Association. As The Associated Press reports, part of the new recommendations include preventing athletes from returning to play the same day as suffering a concussion.

Speakers at the conference highlighted the need for organizations below the professional levels to improve their management of brain injury diagnosis and treatment.
