New Orleans Saints' Sean Payton helps K9 for Warriors project

New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton has become known for more than his work on the sideline: He also has gained a reputation in the Crescent City for his philanthropy through Payton's Play It Forward Foundation.

Payton showed his giving side again last week when he donated a service dog to the K9 for Warriors project, according to The Associated Press.

The dog, known as Gumbo, will go to a non-profit group that trains helper dogs for military veterans with brain injuries and post-traumatic stress disorder.

The program's mission is to stem the suicide rate among former soldiers who have brain injuries by giving them canine companions.
