McCown in 'a lot of pain', will have collarbone X-rays

Browns starting quarterback Josh McCown is in "a lot of pain" as he waits for X-rays on his collarbone Tuesday, a source informed of his schedule told NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport.

The obvious fear is a fracture or break. McCown went down late in Monday's loss to the Ravens, giving Austin Davis a chance to tie the game. Former first-round pick Johnny Manziel remained on the bench.

Before the injury, McCown was 21 for 38 for 212 yards and a touchdown.

However, this development could once again open the door for Manziel, who was sitting as part of a punishment put in place by coach Mike Pettine. Manziel was allegedly seen and photographed out on the town holding containers of alcohol during the bye week. It was a time the coaching staff had hoped he would use to relax and study up on the playbook. Instead, he is again finding himself in a position to have to prove himself worthy.

*UPDATE: *McCown is out for the remainder of the season with a broken collarbone, Pettine announced Tuesday.
