Matt Hasselbeck and Jake Locker look forward to a "healthy competition" to be the Tennessee Titans' starting quarterback, according to The Tennessean.

"I have been through (competition) just about every year," Hasselbeck, a 13-year veteran, said Monday at the start of the team's nine-week offseason program.
"Sometimes I have been the guy on top, or the guy trying to get to the top, but it is always different," Hasselbeck added. "But healthy competition is always good, and it is really no different than last year, or the year before."
Hasselbeck is competing against second-year pro Jake Locker, whom the Titans took with the eighth pick in last year's NFL draft.
"I don't think it is a thing where you have to look at what Matt does and what I do and figure out what I have to do to beat him," Locker said. "I have to do whatever I have to do to make myself the best player I possibly can, and in doing that, you hope that is good enough to win you the job. ... In the end, it will make both of us better, pushing each other and competing with one another."
Hasselbeck started all 16 games last season for new coach Mike Munchak, passing for 3,571 yards and 18 touchdowns with 14 interceptions. Locker played in parts of five games and passed for 542 yards and four touchdowns with no picks. Hasselbeck, however, was more accurate, completing 61.6 percent of pass attempts, compared to 51.5 percent for Locker.
