Lions WR Bryant Johnson takes part in individual drills at camp

ALLEN PARK, Mich. -- Detroit Lions wide receiver Bryant Johnson took a step forward in his comeback from an offseason golf cart accident.

Johnson was taken off the non-football injury list Wednesday and went through individual drills.

Coach Jim Schwartz says Johnson is recovering ahead of the timetable the Lions had in mind, but he says they will not rush him back.

Johnson has said he was injured in July when he was driving a golf cart that got out of control and fell on him near his offseason home in Georgia.

Johnson had an average of 42-plus receptions in six seasons with the Arizona Cardinals and San Francisco 49ers. The Lions signed him in March to complement standout wide receiver Calvin Johnson.
