Lions RB Smith inactive vs. Vikings with ankle injury

Detroit Lions running back Kevin Smith's 2011 comeback again has been derailed by a nagging ankle injury that has hampered him since the team's Thanksgiving Day loss to the Green Bay Packers.

Smith is inactive for Sunday's tilt with the Minnesota Vikings. It's the first time Smith has missed a game due to the injury, however, his production has fallen severely since his 140-yard rushing performance against the Carolina Panthers in Week 11.

Smith rushed for 36 yards against the Packers before injuring his ankle and then totaled 34 yards on the ground against the New Orleans Saints last week.

Lions defensive tackle Nick Fairley (foot) is inactive, as expected, along with defensive backs Chris Houston (knee) and Louis Delmas (knee). Fairley previously had been listed questionable, while Houston and Delmas were doubtful for Sunday's game.
