Lions add well-traveled OT Louis after winning waiver claim

The Detroit Lions were awarded a waiver claim on offensive tackle Cliff Louis, a league source told NFL Network insider Jason La Canfora on Tuesday.

Three teams -- the Lions, Denver Broncos and Cleveland Browns -- placed claims on the 6-foot-8, 315-pound lineman from Morgan State, who was waived by the New York Giants last week. The Lions were awarded Louis based upon their 2009 record (2-14).

Louis was on the Arizona Cardinals' practice squad at the end of last season. He has been on the practice squads of the Browns (2007), Jacksonville Jaguars (2007) and Giants (2008).
