LeSean McCoy doesn't agree he's off to a slow start

Times are good for the Philadelphia Eagles. The team is 3-0 for the first time since 2004, which just so happens to be the last year the Eagles reached the Super Bowl.

That perfect start has come despite some atypical production from LeSean McCoy. The NFL's reigning rushing champion has stumbled out of the gate with just 175 yards on 60 carries. That a yards-per-carry average of 2.9 yards, well off the 5.1 average over 314 rushes in 2013.

McCoy scoffed when asked about his slow start on Tuesday.

"I don't think I'm struggling at all," McCoy told CSN Philly on Sunday. "I don't know what you mean by that. I don't think I'm struggling, at all. So I don't know what you mean by that."

Translation: I'm fine. LeSean is still LeSean. You should be looking at the banged-up offensive line that can't open up any holes for me.

Eagles coach Chip Kelly said he hasn't had any conversations with McCoy about his early lack of production.

"One thing I know about LeSean and everybody loves is he wants to win," Kelly said Wednesday, via Pro Football Talk. "I know he knows we're 3-0. He's had more carries this year in the first three games than he had last year. But obviously the same five guys blocking for him is part of it to do with it. We've got to do a better job in the run game just overall, but I think he's excited that we're 3-0. Sometimes they come in bunches and you can string a couple games back-to-back."

Evan Mathis, Allen Barbre, Jason Kelce and Jason Peters have all missed time this season. Former first-round pick Lane Johnson has been suspended. McCoy will get better, but the line needs to get better first.
