LB Thomas officially signs with Cowboys

IRVING, Texas -- Linebacker Zach Thomas officially joined the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday after spending his entire career with the Miami Dolphins.

The signed one-year, $3.3 million deal had been confirmed last weekend by agent Drew Rosenhaus.

Thomas was released Feb. 14 by the Dolphins, part of the massive rebuilding project being overseen in Miami by new vice president of football operations Bill Parcells, the former Cowboys coach.

The seven-time Pro Bowler missed much of last season because of concussions and migraines. Coincidentally, the Cowboys made room on their roster by releasing fullback Oliver Hoyte, who gave Thomas a concussion when Dallas played Miami in September.
