Kicker Rayner set to re-sign with Lions

ALLEN PARK, Mich. -- Kicker Dave Rayner is ready to re-sign with the Detroit Lions.

The former Michigan State Spartan made 13 of 16 field goals for Detroit last season after longtime kicker Jason Hanson went down with an injured right knee.

Michigan State spokesman John Lewandowski, who spoke to Rayner on Tuesday night, says Rayner plans to re-sign with Detroit once teams are allowed to sign veteran free agents.

Rayner is an unrestricted free agent. Teams can talk to veteran free agents, but can't sign them until Friday.
