Jimmy Graham was nearly traded to Miami Dolphins

Since the start of the new league year, Jimmy Graham has surprisingly landed in Seattle while Jordan Cameron ended up in Miami.

It could have been the other way around for the two Pro Bowl tight ends.

The newly aggressive Dolphinsfinished second to the Seahawks in the Jimmy Graham sweepstakes, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Tuesday.

Inquiring minds want to know: Did the Saints ask for four-time Pro Bowl pass rusher Cameron Wake in the return package? Was that request the ultimate stumbling block?

It's a mystery that might never be solved.

The Dolphins' pursuit of Graham shows how serious they were about upgrading the position, with other teams sniffing aroundCharles Clay weeks before the transition tag came into play.

Rapoport's news is ironic in light of his previous report that the Seahawksdiscussed flippingPercy Harvin to the Browns for Cameron prior to last October's trade with the Jets.

Seattle's brass realized early last season that a big, physical red-zone threat was the missing ingredient on offense.

If not for a couple of twists of fate, it could have been Russell Wilson throwing to Cameron and Ryan Tannehill dialing Graham's number in the end zone during offseason practices.
