Jets waive backup center Baxter, who started two games

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- The New York Jets have waived backup center Colin Baxter, who started two games this season while filling in for an injured Nick Mangold.

The team also released offensive lineman Matt Kroul from the practice squad on Tuesday.

Baxter was claimed off waivers from San Diego following training camp after signing with the Chargers as an undrafted free agent out of the University of Arizona. He played in three games for the Jets.

Kroul signed as an undrafted free agent out of Iowa in 2009, and started working on converting from being a defensive lineman to an offensive lineman during training camp.
