Let's just be blunt: the St. Louis Rams' offense stinks.
The unwatchable unit scored just three points Sunday, leaving even the most talented of the group confounded and dejected.
"There isn't really too much to say," added wide receiver Tavon Austin.
Coach Jeff Fisher is at his wits' end with the putrid offense.
"Coach is almost out of answers," Fisher said with an air of exasperation, via the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. "My responsibility is to say, 'Hey, I'm gonna get this thing fixed.' I mean, we're not efficient on offense."
That would be an understatement, coach.
The Rams compiled just 212 yards of total offense in Sunday's blowout 27-3 loss to the Arizona Cardinals. St. Louis has scored 10 or fewer points five times this season, tied with Cleveland or the fewest in the NFL.
"We've got guys that can produce," Fisher said. "We have an outstanding running back and we have a dynamic receiver. We're starting to get a little bit better on the offensive line, and so we'll keep working. But it has to get better. It's not good."
The offensive line is putrid. Gurley is hit in the backfield consistently, which has led to his recent struggles, including just 41 yards on nine carries Sunday.Â
The biggest problem is at quarterback, where Nick Foles has been dreadful. The quarterback hasn't thrown a touchdown pass in his last six games, or 213 attempts. Fisher is so exasperated with his quarterback situation that after the game he immediately announced Case Keenum would start next week. Fisher even alluded in his postgame comments that rookie Sean Mannion might get a shot at some point.
If he turns to the third-round rookie, who most scouts believed was a year or two from being able to contribute, Fisher really would be out of moves.
