Jason Pierre-Paul set to meet with Giants for checkup

Jason Pierre-Paul is scheduled for a checkup with the Giants this week.

The Giants wanted to examine Pierre-Paul's battered hand at the six-week mark of the season and the plan is for that meeting to happen in the next seven days, according to NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport, via a source informed of JPP's plans.

No official date has been set, but Rapoport reported it's unlikely to happen before Wednesday.

The last time the Giants met with JPP in early September the team determined the pass rusher was not ready to play. Pierre-Paul lost a finger and suffered other injuries to his hand during a fireworks accident on Fourth of July weekend.

JPP's mishap dominated the headlines for the Giants entering the season, but the dominant rusher has been an afterthought as of late with the surging Giants leading the NFC East and riding a three-game winning streak heading into their "Monday Night Football" clash with the Eagles.

The streaking Giants, who were considered the third-favorite in the division before the season started, could now get their best defensive player back while the Cowboys nurse injuries and the Eagles and Redskins search for consistency.
