As it turns out, it was.
Speaking to reporters Sunday, just a day after the Texans were pummeled, 30-0, by Kansas City in the playoff opener, Watt said that he was having surgery on Tuesday.
Watt was seen arguing with team trainers about a potential return to the game on Saturday, but they were right to keep him off the field.
"Did we do some good things? Yeah," Watt said, via the team's official website. "But I'm not too into that narrative. At the end of the day it doesn't matter. It's about results."
Watt also played with a broken hand this season amid other injuries that probably weren't even disclosed, and Saturday night's loss simply put a cap on a year that was both validating and frustrating for the star defensive end. The Texans gutted through an incredible run that saw them topple the heavily favored Colts. They did so with a quarterback carousel and the loss of a few star players on both sides of the ball.
In addition to Watt's injury, Texans coach Bill O'Brien told reporters Sunday that linebacker Jadeveon Clowney has a mid-foot sprain.
"I think the best thing that Clowney needs to do is get healthy and have a great offseason," O'Brien said.
