Inspirational Haason Reddick goes to Cardinals at 13

PHILADELPHIA -- There is at least one NFL prospect every winter whose stock explodes during an electric pre-draft season.

Enter Temple's Haason Reddick, a former walk-on at the ascending Owl program, who was selected by the Arizona Cardinals with the No. 13 overall pick Thursday. Reddick, who was born just over the bridge from this year's draft site in Camden, New Jersey, was able to stun the scouting community this offseason and rise from a mid-level pick with no expectations to a centerpiece in Arizona's rush-heavy defense.

"I had great support from my parents and family; great coaches throughout my college career and I had a strong mindset and a strong will," Reddick told NFL Network's Deion Sanders immediately following the pick.

Drawing comparisons to everyone from Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier to Browns linebacker Jamie Collins, Reddick can be a Swiss army knife in a defense that is getting older at key foundational spots. Reddick posted 22.5 tackles for loss this past season and 9.5 sacks as a senior.
