Jones-Drew practiced throughout the week as he returned from "minor" hand surgery, and reportedly impressed with his progress. But NFL Media's Steve Wyche spoke with Raiders coach Dennis Allen on Sunday, who confirmed Jones-Drew is out. Darren McFadden and Latavius Murray will carry the load for the Raiders in Foxborough against the Patriots. Allen needs all the help he can get as he tries to save his job.
- Foster was a surprising scratch. NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport first reported that Foster was not expected to playin New York against the Giants. NFL Media's Kim Jones later confirmed Foster is indeed out. Alfred Blue is first up in line for carries, but Jonathan Grimes and Ronnie Brown should be in the mix.
- Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles will test out his high ankle sprain before Sunday's game in Miami. Rapoport says that Charles is not expected to play against the Dolphins, which would give all the carries to Knile Davis. Charles did practice on Thursday and Friday, so his status will not be certain until game time. UPDATE: Charles is inactive for the game.
