Injuries: Mike Pouncey (hip) placed on injured reserve

The Dolphins' offensive line will have to soldier on without one of their best players.

Center Mike Pouncey was placed on injured reserve, the team announced Tuesday. Pouncey had been dealing with a hip injury.

Pouncey only played in five games this year, coming off his third-straight Pro Bowl campaign in 2015. The Dolphins are taking the long view on Pouncey's future, Garafolo added. With Ryan Tannehill dealing with a sprained ACL and MCL and out for at least the next few games, Miami's facing an uphill battle.

The Dolphins are still in the thick of the AFC wild-card race but will have to navigate the remaining three games without their star center and franchise quarterback for the foreseeable future.

Here are some other injuries we are tracking on Tuesday:

  1. Vikings running back Adrian Peterson says he will practice this week, per the Pioneer Press, aiming to play again against the Packers on Christmas Eve in an important NFC North matchup. Peterson has been rehabbing the torn meniscus he suffered in Week 2.
  1. Bills wideout Sammy Watkins wants to play the final three games of the season, regardless of if Buffalo is in the playoff race the whole time. Watkins has been dealing with an injured foot all year but hopes to end the season on a high note.
  1. Cornerback Mo Claiborne (groin) isn't expected to return to the Cowboys in time for Sunday night's matchup with the Buccaneers, owner Jerry Jones said. Dallas also activated running back Darren McFadden from the reserve/non-football injury list, Rapoport reported. The veteran will help spell Ezekiel Elliott down the stretch.
  1. Bills safety James Ihedigbo was placed on injured reserve with an ankle injury.
  1. Jets offensive tackle Breno Giacomini (back) has been placed on injured reserve, along with safety Marcus Gilchrist, who suffered a ruptured patellar tendon.
  1. The Colts placed cornerback Patrick Robinson on injured reserve. He'd been out several weeks with a groin injury.
  1. The Texans have placed wideout Braxton Miller on injured reserve with a shoulder injury.
  1. Raiders guard Kelechi Osemele told reporters Tuesday that the "illness" that kept him out of last week's loss to the Chiefs was actually kidney stones. He added that it was the most painful thing he's endured in his life, but he's good to go now that he has had the proper surgeries.
  1. Falcons head coach Dan Quinn said wide receiver Julio Jones (toe) will not practice on Wednesday and will be evaluated later in the week. Mohamed Sanu (groin), however, will likely practice Wednesday.
